The Astrophotography Prize is an International Competition run by Astrophotographers, for Astrophotographers.

Established in 2023, the Astrophotography Prize is an international photography competition celebrating Astrophotographers worldwide. A committed core group of astrophotographers organises the Astrophotography Prize. Their mission is to support astrophotographers worldwide in refining their skills and deriving maximum enjoyment from this hobby.

The Astrophotography Prize (AstroPrize) is unique among astrophotography competitions worldwide. It is the only competition that offers entrants the opportunity to receive both verbal and written feedback from judges who are internationally recognised leaders in their respective fields.

The AstroPrize is much more than an annual competition. In partnership with our sponsors, this event aims to increase education, enthusiasm, and craftsmanship in astrophotography. It brings together photographers from around the world and fosters a spirit of competition. Last year’s competition attracted entries from 14 countries across five continents.

Following the immense success of the inaugural 2023 Astrophotography Prize categories, the event reached new heights! The 2024 and 2025 Astrophotography Prize were dedicated events over two days in September, and are on again this year on August 14th – 16th, 2026.

These exciting events feature live judging across four main categories: Deep Space, Auroras, Astro Landscape, and Remote Imaging.

To ensure maximum accessibility for enthusiasts worldwide, the live judging will be both live-streamed and recorded. The replays will again be available to view on the Home page.

Of special note is our new partnership with the Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland, California. Chabot will exhibit a selection of the best images from the Astrophotography Prize 2026, from October onwards, with space and astrophotography-themed events in support of the exhibition.
